Hi all
I am an asylee and the I-730 that I filed for my husband was approved and sent to my country and he has an interview in a month , and my question is , what do they ask at the interview, do they go into my asylum case? do they have access to my asylum case ? or do they just verify that he really is my husband?
thankyou.

They just want to verify his identity and establish if the marriage is genuine

If you Don't mind can you tell us the timeline for the process?
I have a same situation and have not got an interview
Tanx

Yes could you please give us your time line? I'm on the same process, just got my I-730 approved and would like to know how long those it take for the Department of State to send all the documents.
Thanks so much!

Hi,

I would also like to know how long it took and did they request any RFE (REQUEST OF EVIDENCEE) in my case they have asked for bonafide relaiton with my husband.

How long it took you to get approved from the date you filed it and when did it get apporved here in US and how long from there it took for interview in home country.

Your responce is appreciated.

as long as your husband knows your story, especially your date of departure from your country and why?Remember verification is important for these guys.So let him know your dates and story(maybe he already knows what you went through). Please inform him as much as possible. However what they ask varies from place to place so better be prepared than regret later.

thanks everybody for the response.
My husband knows what I went thru, I just wanted to know if my asylum case or the story gets sent there.
For those who asked me about the time line,
The I-730 got approved in exactly 1 year and 15 days. ( they originally said was going to take between 450-480 days.)
After I got the approval , they direclty sent it to my home country, they do not send the I-730 cases to the department of state as it states on the reciept notice, I called the dep. of state and they told me that it was going to be directly sent to the american embassy there .
He got a letter from the embassy in about 5 weeks, asking him to get his documents like the marriage certificate , birth certificate , police clearance and passport ready and to mail them the checklist when he has everything in order. He did that in 2 weeks and they mailed him an appointment date along with the medical forms after a month.
So it took like a month for each process after the case was approved. But I think how long it takes after the approval depends on each country.
Hope it helps you out. And they didn't ask for an RFE or anything.
Let me know if you have any more questions and also if anybody has more information on the interview at the embassy.
bye

Thanks for the info Missy, I just got the approval. Where does your husband live? My 8 year old daughter is in Spain and I am worried that it will take a long time for them to give her an appointment. Do you know if ALL I-730s cases are processed at the embassy directly?

Hi all,

Good news, Missy was right. The Deparment of State does not keep the I-730 petitions, they forward them to the appropriate embassy right away. My daughter's approval is in Spain now. I have to wait for them to send us the packet but judging from Missy's time line, it should probably take a month or two and then the interview.
Nasrmobin, I was granted asylum on August 23, 2004. I filled for an I-730 petition a few days later. BCIS received my petition on September 7, 2004 and on June 25, 2005 it was approved. It took about 8 months for them to approve it. They sent me a notice of approval indicating that the Department of State had my case. I kept calling the National Visa Center and they told me they hadn't received my case up until yesterday when I was informed that my petition had been forwarded to the American Embassy in Madrid on July 11, 2005.
I called the embassy yesterday and tried to get some information but they didn't tell me much. Just that they would send my daughter a packet and that they made a note to send me one too to since she is a minor. They didn't tell me what kind of documents I will need to have ready for the interview but I am going to send them a letter, maybe then will respond with some more info.
Mean while, I have her birth certificate, passport, and vaccines ready. I gues s does are basic documents that they will probably ask for.
It feels like the process has taken an eternity because I want to be with her so badly but it has taken less than a year. So if you are still waiting, don't worry! It will go fast, good luck!
If anyone has any experience with the embassy and the interview, please share it!
Thanks.

Thanks Camila for the respond, And I am happy about your case which has been approved, I aplied before you did which was July 22nd, 2004 and the sent me a letter asking for more evidence for marriage, I have not heard any thing since then, It has been a month, I dont know how long it will take, but hopefully less than I expecte to take,
Again thanks for your info, I am hapy know, because it seems, it won't take that long,

Regards,

Nas

I am sorry Nas that it has taken you longer. However, it seems to be harder to get your spouse than children. Remember my daughter is 8 so they have that in mind. I think you should keep calling and tell your congressman to make inquiries. I thought it didn't help much but it does. It gets the process moving a long faster.
Good luck!
