I-551 stamping - one appointment per person

Went to get the passport for myself, my wife and my daughter stamped in Las Vegas on Friday.

I had called Customer Service to inquire if I needed 3 appointments (one per person), or if one would suffice. I was told that one appointment in the name of the primary applicant would be sufficient.

When we went to get the stamps, surprise, surprise ! We were told we each needed an appointment, and they would only be able to stamp my passport.
No questions were asked, no documents reviewed, and the whole procedure took less than 5 minutes.
Now we'll have to go back in two weeks (first appointment available) and get the other stamps.

Could you tell me how old is your daughter? I have two children (7 & 8), and they told me over the phone that under 14 years old no need for fingerprints. So I am not sure if my children need to go with me or not.

Went yesterday for my wife and daughter's appointments, and they took my daughters fingerprints, too (she is 4 years old). She did not have to sign her name on the form, though. :)

In answer to your questions, yes, you have to drag your kids to the USCIS office. There are no fingerprints taken for a background check prior to approval, which is what they might have referred to. For the stamping AFTER approval, all applicant's fingerprints are taken (just the right index finger).

The people answering the customer service phones are morons, don't believe a thing they say. They also told me that a single appointment in the name of the primary applicant would suffice for all family members. NOT !
