Hi,

Just a quick question: If there is a family (3 people: mom, dad, daughter) in the US wit B2 visas (tourist) Can they apply for an extension of status using just one Form I-539? Let's say father would be an applicant and mother and daughter would be added in the Supplement?

How much would be a fee? $200 or $600 (because there are 3 people)?

Just called USCIS info-line. Called 3 times, got 3 different answers:
a) mother is an adult so she cannot be added to the same applicatnio with father - child can be added with father - mother is supposed to send her application with father's application in the same envelope - cost: $ 400 (2 applications times $200 each).

Just in case I called once again after 1 hour. I heard:

b) father, mother and a child on 1 application I-539 (father as a main applicant, mother and child on the Supplement to I-539) - check for $600 as there are 3 different people (??!!)

I was confused. So once again I am calling I-800... The answer:

c) father, mother, child on 1 application - as there is one application so you pay $200 (I was said that it is paid per appliaction not per person so even if there are 5 people on the application the fee will be the same $200)

Does anyone know the correct answer?

Thanks a lot.

I am going to apply extension for my parents. So I faced the same questions. Shall I send $200 or $400? Can anyone filed the application already in such case, let me know how much you sent to USCIS?

Thanks in advance.

I am no expert on visa issues and have no firsthand experience on applying for an extension of multiple people either.

But from what the following link mentions, all three (main applicant, spouse and child) can be on the same application and will be charged only $200.

I am disappointed to hear that calling the USCIS helpline three times resulted in three different answers. May be you could ask to talk to a supervisor when you call next time? Also, ask them if there is a USCIS website or another recommended website that states the rules regarding fees clearly?
