I-485 Questions

I am currently working on an L1B visa. I've just rolled it over so have 2 years left.

I also have an I-485 that was receipted last August 2003 from the NYC office. They are reporting that receipt dates from May 2002 are currently being completed. The I-485 petition is an EB1 category multinational manager or executive transfer sponsored by my current employer.

At what point can I leave my current position for another job with a different employer without terminating the I-485 petition/requiring a new temporary visa? Do I have to wait until the I-485 is completely processed and approved?

I'm well in excess of 180 days.

What do I need in order to be able to work for another firm? Do they need to petition for a new temporary visa, or would I use the EAD (and roll it over every year)? Can I roll the EAD over myself, or do I need the new firm to sponsor me?
