I-485 portability

What happens if your 485 case has been pending for more than
6 months (180 days) but the I-140 is also pending and you get laid off?

Start GC all over

For 485 portability to work I140 approval is essential.
If I140 is rejected because of your lay off then you need to start GC all over.
I140 approval goes to the employer and the employer can decide to substitute somebosy else to that position.
