I-485 pending... Leaving country on H1 Visa

We applied for EAD, AP, and I-485 in Nov 3rd, 2006. We received receipts for all three applications. We have a valid H1 and H4 Visa upto June 30, 2007. We received approved EAD only for my wife. We are having plans to visit India in Jan 1st 2007 thru Feb 28th, 2007. Is it safe to travel since our I-485, and AP not yet approved. We do have valid visas to enter into USA. However, some of my friends are saying it may not be safe being out of country if I-485 is approved when I am in India. We appreciate your suggestion.

If you have valid visa to re-enter, then there is no issue. If you are outside the US and the GC gets approved, still no issue. It has been discussed countless number of times, just do a search in this forum.

Thank you very much for your advise Eric. CONGRATULATIONS!!! on your GC and I can imagine how much pain you went thru this. I am sure I may not stand for this, but really we should thank to UN. I appreciate your help and Njoy your FreeBird stay.
