I-485 medical from civil surgeon question

An immigrant number is not available for me at this time to file AOS.

I could however make use of this downtime to get the required medical out of the way. How long is this medical good for ? Is it honored for 30 days (like passport photos)? 6 mths, a year? anyone know?

Would appreciate comments or experiences regarding this issue.

How long is this medical good for ? .

The results of the medical examination are generally valid for only 12 months before you file I-485.
However after you file I-485 it is valid forever till the I-485 is pending.http://immihelp.com/greencard/adjustmentofstatus/medical-examination.html

What is your priority date? The medicals are not at all cheap (I paid $395) , so don't waste your money if your wait is long.

Priority date when LC received is Apr/2004.

I have no idea how long my wait. The medical is good for 12 months.

What are your thoughts ? I would be happy to have an idea how long I may have to wait with 2004 priority date.

Unfortunately, right now for EB3/Canada I think one could easily wait more than 12 months before your PD becomes current. I would wait.

Does an approved I-140 have a shelf life??

No, because in some categories an I-140 or I-130 beneficiary can wait up to 20 years for a PD to become current.
