I-485 medical: bad situation... please help!

Hi!

I just learnt today that an RFE has been generated on my case! My husband was approved 3 weeks ago. Most probably the RFE is because I was pregnant when we submitted our application and had not taken TB Skin Test or X-Ray.

The problem is - I am pregnant again... I am in the very early stages of the FIRST trimester.

My question is:

1. Can I do the TB Skin Test? Ideally, I would like to avoid it because I am very early in pregnancy and the fetus is really small. Has anyone done it?


And the more IMPORTANT question:
2. Instead of X-Ray method of testing, can I just do "SPUTUM Smear & Cultures" testing? I read that this method is as effective as X-Ray and gives a definitive answer. Has anyone or anyone you know, done this test for I-485?


Please let me know... I will keep you all posted on the RFE.

I would think simplest answer is go to doctor and get a cretificate that none of these tests can be taken safely given ur condition. They should not delay ur GC on the medical basis...
 
If you are in NY-Metro. One of the doctor in whiteplains,NY giving medical papers with minimal tests. I suggest you should see the doctor.
 
My Wife has done TB tests and XRay while she was Pregnant. They suggested to take some medication but she didn't do that. And also she didn't take some vaccines and she got rfe to complete the vaccines.
 
The skin for TB can be taken while pregnant. Only if that come out as positive an x-ray is required, otherwise not. Regarding other vaccines conult your OB-GYN. Good luck.

My wife went for SPUTUM Smear & Cultures[/B]" testing when she was pregnent at the time we filed for I-485. It's safe, although it takes about 6 - 8 weeks before you get the results back as they try to grow TB bacteria from the sputum. This test is the definite test for TB and more effective then Skin test or XRay. Most Indians will find TB in their body either in passive form or active form. So the possibility of the TB virus growth with this test is more, in case of asians/ Indians, while Skin Test and Chest X Ray does not determine the passive TB Virus in your body. So think about it before you go for it. Incase a passive virus is found, they will put you on medication for 5-6 months.
In my wife's case we were lucky not to find any bacterias.
