I-485 interview question!

When you go for final stamping to the INS office, being an asylee you tell them that you do not use your country's passport and bring 3 photos with you so that they can issue you that white card and this card serves as evidence of your status till you get your plastic green card in mail.

My question is that even if you say that you do not use your country's passport and want to have that white card stamped, do they still ask you to show your country's passport to them as an ID? What I am trying to understand is that should you bring your country's passport on interview.

thanks,

When I went for stamping last November, I told the officer processing my stamping that I do not use my home country passport and requested to issue me a white card with stamp. There was no issue with it and it seemed to me a pretty standard routine....
