I-485 & H1b

Hello to all:

I am a new member of this site. I filed I-485 in late March and my school filed H1B in middle of April this year. After read some threads on this site, I got the impression that filing H1B after I-485 was not a smart move.
Now I am working on EAD since my OPT expires and H1B has not granted yet. Do I need to withdraw H1B or it does not matter at all?

Thanks

Uh ... may be I'm the only one who didn't understand your scenario.

You are currently work on OPT (with F1 visa) and are trying to apply for H1B. That's okay.

But how did you apply for I-485 straight?! What happened to LCA/I-140? Are you one of those "special Ph.D" category person who can get LCA waived?

Oh ... I guess there is nothing wrong having H1B while your I-485 is in process. The other option is to apply for an EAD (which is the same as OPT) as a part of the I-485 process.

As soon as your OPT expires, you may continue to work either with the H1B or with the EAD.

I'm not sure why someone considered it not smart to apply for H1B!
