I-485 Finally Approved

Received some 12 emails last evening for both of us. Haven't received the approval letters yet ... and about time too ... process started in early 2001. So not sure if I'm still in a frustrated-shocked-hallucinated mode ... because I'm not ecstatic yet!

In either case, you guys deserve kudos ... all of you in this forum. Not just for being there, sharing stuff and giving strength, but also for pointing out valuable and timely information (good or bad) and suggesting ways to proceed. Really, thanks to all of you past and present in this forum.

My case is an old one as the signature suggests. I got the luck to see all possible stupid mishandlings, useless delays, meaningless responses from the IIOs and USCIS letters, and a very inconvenient and untimely retrogression that screwed up good academic/career opportunites for both myself and my spouse. So it'll take a while to get over the grumpiness  , but I'm glad that the era is over - I can look past that period to the future. Most of all, I can visit home without worrying about visas or advanced paroles.

Shaf

Congrats.

Did you recently talk to any VSC rep?

I tried to get some info about my case, but I get conflicting versions about name check, security check, background check, what-ever-you-call check.

Thanks

Stuck in unknown checks

I did a couple of times - my lawyer checked too. But we kept getting conflicting versions as well. Three times I heard the same thing "the case is now with an adj officer", one officer said that in order to check the status of my checks - she'll have to "pull my file from the shelf" resulting in additional delay. So I would give very little credibiliity to what they say ...

the FBI website also suggests that if we contact congressmen or cenators it will only slow down the "whatever"-check progress.

Whoes "integrity" needs to be "checked"?

Shaf, which country are u from?

Shaf,

Congratulations! on the long journey. I am sure I won't believe it when I get my GC because mine started in May 2001 and got withdrawn and applied again.

The main reason for my post :) is this question:

Which country are u from?

It appears that you may be from China because EB3 India is still only in April 2001.

If you are from EB3 India then that's a lil exciting for me too since I have a July 2001 PD but I am used to waiting after all this time!

Thanks in Advance.

Well, seems like USCIS won't give up on bothering our lives as much as they can. We received the approval notices just fine at our new address (and then we took the notices to get our passports stamped). But now we see that our online USCIS account status says that "the last notice was returned by the post office as undeliverable". It could be the card, or new biometrics notices - I don't know yet. God knows which address they are using now!!!

This organization is simply rotten to its core. They mail one notice to one address and then the next day they send it elsewhere!!!
