I-485 filed, can we extend I-20s ?

Why do you need to maintain 'F status' after filing for Adjustment of Status? Just my thoughts as I am not an expert in this matter.

Thanks for the reply,

My concern was that incase I-485 gets denied, then with the valid extended I-20 I might have the status, if not I would be out of status. We don't know when the priority date will become available for I-485 to be reviewed.

Thanks once again?

Any other friends have any thought about it?

Similar predicament...need advice

First time visitor to this portal and have learnt a lot.

Am doing PhD and was on F-1 before AOS application.
GC filed for wife, daughters and self in July 2007. Wife and I have got AP and EAD.

My daughter (16 years old) has now got admission to college starting Fall 2008.
University wants to place her in international student category because GC/AOS is pending. She has to apply for F-1.
Will she have any problem in getting F-1 because of pending AOS, since F-1 requires no intent to migrate.
Is there any procedure or provision to deal with such situation.

Thanks

No, she doesn't and she should not. She is eligible to attend school on her pending I-485.

Absolutely! The school people are idiots.

Tell them that she is legally present, does not require an F-1 and that the university should admit her. If they do not, you will retain a civil rights attorney who will be happy to settle for free tuition for a number of years.
