I-485 Fees

I filed concurrently for 140 and 485 on Aug 05,2004.
I paid the fees in check.

I wanted to know when does INS encash the check for 485--

1> As soon as they get the application?
2> When they open my case for review?
3> After they have made decision on it ?

They encash the check on receipt of application before alloting LIN #. Also LIN # is put on back of the check by INS.
