I-485 EB2 NSC "welcome notice"

My wife received a "welcome notice" email today on her 485 application. She didn't get any approval email (yet).
Here is the status message:

"On July 17, 2006, a welcome notice was mailed for this case. If 30 days have passed and you have not received this notice. Please call the National Customer Service Center at (800) 375-5283 during business hours."

Does this mean an approval? Hoping it is. Will she get the Green card before the retrogression in August for EB2 - Ind?

There is a LUD on 07/15 on her 140, which was already approved in April 2006!!

I haven't applied for my I-485 as I was on F-1 and didn't want to jeopardize my status/research assistantship. I think I can send in my 485 now (before August 1st retrogression in Eb2-Ind) since we got married before her 485 approval. Can the gurus confirm? Also I am now done with my Ph.D. and have just applied for OPT EAD last month. What happens to the pending OPT EAD if I apply for 485 now?

Congratulations!
Yes..retrogression will not have any impact on approved petitions. She should receive her cards in about 2 weeks..if the FP is current.
As far as your application, in my opinion, that is correct..if you can apply before month end, it will be fine..you can also apply for EAD along with I485 I guess or if you prefer to use your OPt for the timebeing, that should be fine..you may want to consult with an attorney regarding this.

This morning my wife received the 485 approval email. This is for real! It will take some time to sink in.

I also received my OPT EAD approval email yesterday.

I guess I'll go ahead and file 485 as her dependant.

Very Important

Congratulations! If you got married before I-485, then you might be able to file for FOLLOW-TO-JOIN benefit and become permanent resident immediately! You do not have to wait. Please talk to your attorney, and make sure you do that.

No might about it; they were married before the I-485 was approved. It is imperative that his I-485 be received by USCIS before August 1st.
