ND: 03/07/2000, no RFE.
Called IIO four times:
05/11 (``with officer\'\'; was told to wait 30-45 days)
06/26 (``with officer\'\'; was told to wait 2-3 weeks)
07/25 (``with officer\'\'; was told to wait 30 days)
Since my case was ``in process\'\' for more than 1.5 years, I called up
a local congressman (didn\'t help much at first, but when I called
INS again on 10/15 I was told that INS has nothing to do with the delay, the case was mistakenly sent for consular processing, so they were waiting
to get the original of I-140 back. That\'s when the congressman was very helpfull).
AD: 10/26 (according to The Machine).
How long does it usually take get passport stamped/receive a plastic card?

Hope it helps. I haven\'t been posing here in a while (since summer),
but wouild like to thank everybody who aswered my questions back then.
Good luck, guys!

question to Alex Petrov

Hi Alex, congrats again for your approval. In your message you say that contacting the congressman helped a lot when you learned that your I-140 was approved for CP and VSC had requested it from consulate. Can you please elaborate on that a little, and if possible, remind us the procedure for contact? Thanks a lot.

Thanks again. I contacted my local congressman when they told me that
``it would take another 30 days\'\' for the third time (i.e. 4-5 months
after the first conversation with IIO -- see my postings here).
People here suggested writing a letter -- I just called up his office,
there is a person (congressman\'s liason -- CL) whose responsibility
is to assist the subjects with various cases with government organizations. That person knew what\'s going on with INS, took down
my data and called them the same day.
They gave the same BS to the CL a couplel of times until I called
INS and asked them to see what\'s going on. The IIO lady was nice
to dig around and told me that INS had nothing to do with the delay,
they haven\'t received my I140 back from the consulate. I related that
info to CL, who (I believe) made some calls and viola, my case was
approved within a couple of weeks.
Now, if your case is not way overdue (mine was there for 1.7 years
with no RFE or anything), your local congressman might not even
want to help...

Hope that helps. Good luck,

I have written a message from their website. I will try calling, too. Thanks again.
