My wife got the labor approval , she is applying I-140 and also I-485 for her(beneficiary) and my self (derivative), I am also on H1B. If after applying I-485 as derivative I got laidoff let say in couple months, I will change to H4...will that effect my I-485. Also with my I-485 as derivative do I have to send my W2 and pay stub or my wife's.

Thanks inadvance

better options...

You can also apply for EAD (and AP) to pursue employment elsewhere. Once you receive 485 receipt (with A#) then it is not absolutely necessary to change your status to h4. For travel you need AP while on adjsutee status.
For h1 derivatives proof of h1 is enough, however, your w-2s will not harm the application.
