I-485 date in Vermont jumped ahead to Feb 15, 2006

This is very weird. Now all of those who filed there I-485 in 2004/early 2005 (like myself) would be a lot more tensed than they already were - VSC has moved on to deal with current cases - and left the old ones to rot further.

Does not matter!

Akash,
Don't worry about it. Honestly there is no reason to get excited/tensed about the processing date improvements at VSC. Only benefit is we can call and enquire about our case with VSC customer rep. ( Otherwise they say "oh your date is not current, please call us later. They can't do that now..."). Other than that, it does not help us much in anyway.

The catch is the Name/Background Check at FBI. As long as that is pending, the processing dates/PD becoming current would not mean much.

Just my opinion. What do you say?

Rasi.

May be just computer glitch
and we can see next time it will jump back to august 2005.
It realy doesn't mean anything. I remeber last year when it was Dec 2004, I was almost happy, but then it was moving forward and leaving me behind. Can happen to new fillers also. All depends on NC clearance.

I think it is good if the date moves forward quickly. While there is no guarantee that your case will be worked on, it does help start the process of officially inquiring about the delay etc. Also gives you solid ammo for a WoM. My case was within processing time based on the last report (dated Oct 30) but is 6 months behind the current date. I had thought I would have to wait several months before considering WoM, but with this jump in dates, the case becomes much stronger.

I might be wrong, but isn't WoM is for Citizenship cases only?

cmonalready, How do you know your case is pending with Name and DOB check? What do I need to do to find that out? Also, What is Mandamus route? What is WOM?

I called USCIS today. After 15 min of wait the rep took the EAC# and RD date of I485 and said he does't have much information about this case and he transfered it some other number. After 30 minutes of wait in this line the customer rep said, back ground check is in Pending :( and we are currently processing the applications received on Aug 8, 2005.

I told her that processing dates in website showing Feb 15, 2006 for VSC. She said I am also looking at the same website and giving this information  and suggested me to call after one month. ( I don't know whether the website information is correct or not).

Thanks.

No, WoM is available to 485 applicants as well. Citizenship cases have an additional legal option (1447 (b) ??) which makes it easier to petition for relief. If you've had a naturalization interview, then USCIS has 120 days in which to process your application. If the don't, you can sue them.

I called VSC (or was it NBC?) and filed an inquiry on my cases (me+dependents) I don't expect much, but it may remind them about my case, who knows
