Hello!

Thank you very much to all those who post their experiences in this forum. It has been very helpful during the long wait... We received the Approval Notice for my I-485 Application in the mail. My husband\'s has not arrived. We are waiting for it.

My details are as follows:

EB3, India, VSC
PD - 3/97; RD - 8/99; ND - 9/99; FP - 8/2000
RFE Received (Employer\'s letter and pay stubs): 2/2001
RFE Response sent by Fed Ex: 3/8/2001 (Delivered to VSC on 3/9/2001)
Called IIO on 03/30/2001 - He said that my file does not indicate that my response was received, and suggested that I resend copies of all the documents that I sent earlier with a letter explaining the situation.
04/07/2001 - Resent the documents to VSC by FedEx, as suggested by the IIO.
Date of Approval - 04/18/01

I am not sure why my husband\'s was not approved along with mine. We had sent the Applications together (his is derivative; mine is principal). Has anyone heard of something similar before? My lawyer suggested waiting for a few days. He said that since the applications are treated separately, my husband\'s might be approved in a few days. The AVM just says that his \'I-485 Application was received back in 1999\'.

Many thanks once again to those who post their experiences.

Thank you, Myladoor.

vscaug98, did you hear anything about your wife\'s application? I have not heard anything about my husband\'s application. These days, it is very hard to get through to VSC. When we dial the number, we keep on getting the busy tone. A couple of days back, when we got through, the AVM indicated that my husband\'s \'case cannot be found in the system\'. Not sure what that means. I saw a couple of postings here which indicated the same response from AVM. Maybe, the system was not working properly then.

Thank you,

My husband\'s I-485 application has been approved on May 31, 2001. vscaug98, hope your wife\'s case has been approved too.

My I-485 was approved on April 18, 2001. We talked to IIO two times in May (15th and 29th) about the status of my husband\'s application. The first time, the IIO said that my husband\'s case was approved on April 19th, and also that the Approval notice was already mailed to us then. When we said that we had not received it, she promised to resend it. But what we received three days later was a duplicate Approval Notice of my case. Not sure whay they did that since the IIO specifically asked to talk to my husband and verified his name, EAC number, address, etc. When we talked to the IIO on May 29th, he said that the system does not indicate that my husband\'s application was approved. He said that it would take about two weeks for us to hear something about his application. We did not check the AVM after that. We received the Approval Notice for his I-485 yesterday.

Once again, thank you very much to everyone who post their experiences in this forum.

In our case, at the time of applying for I-485, we submitted a letter from my husband\'s employer stating his salary and their intention to keep him employed. Some people submit Financial Affidavit for the derivative applicant in addition to it, but our lawyer did not suggest it.

INS did not ask for my husband\'s pay stubs; they only asked for mine in the RFE.

We got our Passports Stamped at Arlington, VA today.

Thank you very much for your messages, everyone. Here is my passport stamping experience.

We reached the INS office at Arlington, VA around 7:10 am. There was a long line already. We were able to get in around 8:00 am. After the security checks, we went to Room 210, where we were asked to stand in Line B. Around 8:30, we got our tokens. Initially, only one counter was functioning. So, things moved very slowly. Later on, four other counters were also opened. We had to wait till 12:15 pm for our turn. The officer took our I-485 Approval Notices, all EAD\'s, two photos, and our passports. He removed our I-94\'s and attached them to our Approval Notices. He took our signatures on two places in some form. He also took our fingerprints. He then stamped our passports, and returned them. He said that the stamps are valid for a year each. He also said that it would take six months - one year to get the actual card. He asked us to get the stamp renewed, if we do not get the card 60 days before the expiry of the stamp. The whole process took about five minutes.

Once again, many thanks to all those who post their experiences in this forum.

With regards,
