Our Green cards have been approved in January at Dallas Local office in the interview and I received my physical card in May but my wife didn't.we both were I-551 stamped.

Now we moved to charlotte area..we visited yesterday Charlotte local office
and the officer was very nice..She found out that my wife's I-485 is not showing approved and the system is not showing my wife is a permanent resident yet.She checked the I-551 Stamp, interview notice and agreed it is a USCIS mistake..She told that in the system the officer who approved our cases still holding my wife's file.Tried to help us and tried to call Dallas office and left them voice mails(nobody is picking the phone in that office)..

In may we received an email (attorney followed up) from the Dallas Local office both our files went for card production.I also showed that email also she was very surprised that that the officer didn't change the system.

She asked us to contact the Dallas Local office immediately..We are planning to travel next month. She advised us not to travel until this gets resolved..
and also she asked me go to congress men they will get the problem fixed..

(They are accepting its their mistake, they checked my paperwork, and to get
the problem fixed go to congress men)..But I have to say she was very nice to us..

We contacted my attorney already and he told me he sent an email to Dallas office.I am planning to wait for three more days then follow up with the congressmen.

1) What do you guys think..Is it safe to travel with the I-551 stamp in this
case?

Thanks..

I am not sure either

Hi Kir0603,

My family and myself stamped passports after an interview 4/2005 and we have not got teh physical green card yet and when we went to SSN they told us it is not in the system. I am planning to go to Charlotte to ask but it may be still in the databas efor teh local office. My lawyer told me that when a case gets transferred it is completely different from case in the main centers. I have not checked yet with Charlotte to see but I am planning to do so soon. so fo you it may be still in the Dallas office somewhere in thier f**ing database but still not uploaded to the main database. you should be prepared by now and used to USCIS stupidity.
please let us know what you get when you go to Dallas.

Thanks,
Spartakus

Our main concern is the travel..

Do you guys see lot of risk in travel on I-551 stamp with the USCIS computer
is not updated..

Safer not to in this case. I am guessing that the port of entry computers are linked to the same database.

I traveled the next day with I-551 and came back without problem.

I traveled the very next day after my approval on 09/30/2005 at the Atlanta District Office. When I came back on 10/10/2005, I was referred to the Secondary Inspection area. The officer there did have some issues in verifying if I was indeed approved. After some heavy punching-in, she just asked a couple of questions and told me that when I get my physical card, I won't have to have this ordeal at secondary inspection. About 2 days later, when I went to the SSN office, they told me that their systems yet do not show that I am approved.

The point is that, once you have an I-551, you can travel without any problems, notwitstanding any paranoid tendencies about systems not being updated. At least you have a clear witness in me!!!

There is no problem to travel with I551 stamped on passport I did it too. Mine also same issue. They have not updated in the system and my file has gone back from the dallas office to the eastern office it seems. Now I am trying to send a letter to the vermont office to update my approval in thier system.
If after 12 months of stamping still if their system does not get updated, they will refuse to stamp the renewal on the passport. So travel will be a problem.

oh..they will refuse to stamp again in the passport if the system didn't show approve? But i had the interview in Los Angeles office and got the stamp in the same date. They should have some information in their computer. I am very worry about this.
