My I485 was approved on 4/17. In the letter it says that I might have to go to get my FP taken. I haven't heard anything since can I make an appointment from infopass and go there to get everything done?

You can probably take an Infopass appt and see if the Immigration Officer will schedule a FP appt for you. However, you will have to go to an ASC, if your city has one, for FP. Goodluck and keep us posted.

Sounds like biometrics

If you haven't had one done previously, this is what it looks like. Piece of cake, no worries.

Yeah it is for biometrics. I want to get that done asap because I might have to leave the country. So if scheduled an infopass appt, I should select "Speak to an immigration officer" option? What is an ASC center. Shouldn't it be the same place I went to get my FP taken the 1st time?

You don't need an infopass appt to schedule your biometrics. ASC is Appplication Support Center. You call the service center 1-800 number on your efile EAD confirmation receipt and sechedule an appt.

I didn't efile my I-485. Here's what my I-485 approval letter says:

Your application has been approved. Prior to receiving your permanent resident card you may be required to report for biometrics processing. Please do not take any action at this time. If you are required to report for this processing, you will receive another notice advising you of the date, time and location to appear.

If you have not received your permanent resident card or the above mentioned notice to appear for biometrics processing within 90 days, please call this office at the number listed below.

What's another way I can get fingerprinted without waiting for the letter. I have to leave the country for emergency.

You basically have no option left here but to wait for the appointment letter for biometrics to arrive.
My 485 was approved back in Feb 9, 2006 & I received the appointment letter for bio for May 4th.
In your approval letter it clearly says not to take any action before 90 days.
So just wait.
Atique.

You cannot efile I-485. What I meant is that you can only make a biometric or FP appt if you have efiled your application. Just hang in there. I am sure you will get an appt letter soon.

If you are in a hurry and plan to leave the country within a short period of time, set up an appointment with your local service center (not the ASC) and talk to an IIO. They will get your passport stamped for travel purposes and at the same time will check and tell you if you do need a biometric. If you do need that, he/she will schedule it right away and you can get the biometrics done the same day. From the day your I-485 got approved, you became a permanent resident and the local service center will try to address your needs to the best of their ability. Just remember to take with you your approval notice and a passport which is valid for at least the next 6 months.

Got the letter the other day. I have to go and get my biometrics taken. Hopefully my gc comes right after.

If FP-3 has expired or FP-3 never done, USCIS will definitely call before plastic GC.

None of them.

My FP has done on 6/24/2006 and it was code 3. still no GC. any reason?

How can FP expire??? I thought once they took it , it would stay permanently in their records?? Or do they erase it after a certain period of time (which doesn't make sense...)
