I-485 Approval(Good news for All of us)

Hello Gurus,
I got magic email from USCIS yesterday night that my and my wife I-485s approved and also they ordered card for both of us.We completed FP on 4/20/2005 and I-140 approved on 6/20/2005.Is it same as Biometric?Please see my signature for my case details.Can you please suggest me about things that we need to do after I-485 approval.

Did they take Ur picture and signature during Ur FP.. if yes that was biometrics..
else they might call U for biometrics before they issue U the card. As the picture and signature appears on the card.

Well happy to see that EB3 India getting approved .... in any case U might have PD earlier than Jan 1998... Looks like there will good number of approvals this winter.

your approval brings lot of hopes to 485 pending guys. It clearly shows that retrogression will not affect already filed cases. ( EB3 visas UNAVAILBLE in sep 2005 for all nationals)
 
One more EB3 approved in August.

what is the date your card shows, that will help others,
I mean mine also eb3 and I got approval in August.
but once I received the card it showed that I am permanent resident from 6/05.
Rest of you, I feel if uscis has pulled your visa number sometime then they will continue to approve even if the current PD date make you unavailable to get the approval.

I hate to tell you this, but the retrogression effective date is tomorrow 10/1/05.

NSC is approving many cases these days because it is the end of the fiscal year and they need some nice statistics to report.
 
Mr Green,

EB3 for India retrogressed since Jan 2005, and it become unavailabe to all nationals since June 2005. Therefore, retrogression was already kicked in for EB3 catagory. Note that Pandu04 catagory is EB3-India

Thank you very much for all your warm wishes.Mine is EB3-India and priority date is 11/20/2003.I think we are guessing too much about priority dates.Friend of mine also got I-1485 approval recently(Eb3case).Just wait for your turn.I donot know much about biometric but I completed FP around april 2005.Is it nessary to have biomatric done before approval?If so what should I do as my case is already approved now.
I strongly beleive uscis will definitely approve as long as you and your company has clean record and finally your luck.I takes more time than we originally expected as there might be processing delays.Any way good luck to all of you.

Thank you very much PANDU for breaking this incredible news.
So guys, we can get 485 approvals very soon.
Seems like already filed cases with Biometrics done are not affected by this retrogression.
 
it is wired that eb3 can still get approved with " unavailable visa". Many people said uscis assigns a visa number when they approve 485. really don't understand how uscis works. anyway, it maybe a good new for us all. we can expect approvals even if there is retrogression.

maybe we should start a topic like this "all unexpected approvals", those people who are under "unavailable or retroregressed" got approved. How about it?

we can figure out if these approvals are normal or just mistake.

Since you have already received emails stating your card has been ordered, that clearly shows that you had completed your biometrics as well when you did your FP last time. This biometrics is basically used to process your plastic card automatically when your i-485 is approved, just to avoid unneccessary passport stamping etc.

Following are the action items for you after getting your GC:

1. Throw a big party to celebrate.
2. Wait for your approval notice, it should come in another 4-8 days.
3. Since you have also received emails about card has been ordered, you really don't need to get an infopass appointment to get your passport stamped.
4. After you receive your plastic card, submit updated I-9 form with a copy of your plastic card to your employer.
5. Also get SSN card updated, basically 'INS authorization is required' will be removed and you will get a new SSN card with same SSN.
6. Enjoy your freedom.
7. Keep visiting this forum once in a while at least to answer other members questions or to get to know about immigration updates.

Well in your fingerprint appointment did they take picture and signature? If so then your biometric is done.
Otherwise uscis will send you a biometric notice which will be code 2 fingerprint(picture+signature+indexfinger print) and it will be shown in card. Eigher way is it is done.
I have seen people going for passport stamping if they plan to travel out side country, if they have not received the card. but dont know much about that since my card came pretty soon.
