Experts, i believe quite a handful of the users in ths forum are related to IT.Some of us may be consultants/contractors always on the move for projects and have to move.
If 485 was filed at one of the regional centers and that applicant has to move from state to state for assignments and average being 6 mos, will USCIS transfer the case from each state to another for every move.

With the current processing times i 485 approval without much RFEs is taking an average of 2 yrs and if that applicant had to move 4 times out of state during such period (even some states under other regional center different from one previously filed), will each local INS center keep moving the files.
If thats the case i-485 will take almost 2 times 4, almost 8 years. Is that quite exaggerating ? Is there any way to stop such things from happening ?

USCIS will typically not transfer the cases between Service Centers. The only time a case may be moved is on a transfer to a local office.

between local offices

What if the applicant moves from Connecticut -> Virginia -> Kansas.(Initially filed with VSC giving the address of connecticut).
Its a three state move between 2 service centers in a span of 2 yrs.

So will CT transfer to Virginia local office and then Virginia local office to Kansas local office.
Kansas , i believe comes under NSC/TSC jurisdiction.
Will Kansas or Virginia local office call the candidate for an interview ?
My case moved to Virginia within 2 mos i filed ar-11, but haven't changed recently for my Kansas move which i relocated 4 mos ago.
Any thoughts ????

Why would they do this? If the I-140 was filed at VSC then the case will stay at VSC unless they decide that they cannot approve the adjustment without an interview. 90% of all adjustments are approved without interview.

Out of state move

I have read many places in this forum, that out of state move triggers local office transfer and the rate is at 80% transfers. For my case, all were out of state moves.
For my first out of state move, CT->VA, it triggered local office transfer.

Whenever you file AR-11, CIS local office with your case will find the updated address. This is happened to my case now. My case was transferred to one local office in March, after 6 months pending in local, then that local office found my moving and tried to move the case back to the service center.... U can imagine what will happen next.

But U have to file AR-11 when you move, even though it is temporay. This is what I was told, and is experiencing.

I don't see any solution in this situation. If U have, tell me.

Step 1) The only one way i guess is if you happen to have any close buddy or friend who owns a house in the state that you filed your 485 initially, have all your pay stubs,SSN yearly statments,DMV correspondence,Tax Returns,INS notices etc (all govt related stuff) be mailed there.
Step2) Only file AR-11 to the DHS address, don't call up your service center with that 1-800# and update, if its out of state move donot ever send any address change correspondence to USCIS service center with your pending application (if Step1 works out for you).

After my case got transferred to local office,I experimented with my wife's 485 application and her case never got transferred but then i had a relative who owns a house in CT.Her file is not picking any dust and still getting changed as per LUD.

Try at your own risk.

But you mentioned that after filing ar-11, you case got transferred automatically to the local office !!! I am just wondering how, did u call up uscis 1-800# or sent any correspondence of address cahnge to the service center.
