Hi,
can I apply and enroll full-time at university while my I-485 is pending? Or do I need a F-1 visa?
thanks!

There is no problem to enroll full-time at an University with I-485 pending.
Your University will ask you to show them your legal status proof in US, it can be your passport with I-94 and maybe I-485 receipt.

The problem is that you can not get financial aid until you get green card, and good government grants and low percentage loans, couple of people said that they could manage to get FAFSA approval (being on the I-485 pending status) but their universities refused to pay.

You may figure out in your specific University about their rule,
but if you do not care about financial aid, there is no problem to be full-time student.

The question is are you a main applicant for 485? If yes then how can you do a full time study with a full time job?

If you are dependent applicant then joining full time study is not a problem except this finance as sfmars explained.
