I-485 and passport ...

Here are my questions about filing I-485:

1. My passport is expired and a new one will be available 2 months later. Can I use the old passport copy as an identity document, if I wanted to file I-485 now or have to wait 2 months for the new passport to file?

2. Does each member of the family have to file I-485 together with I-131 and I-765 separately? If yes, what is difference in preparation of documents for my wife and my daughter (14 years old)?

3. When I filed I-140, I requested for CP process. Now if I changed my mind and wanted to file application for adjustment of status (I-485), can I directly do this without notifying the INS? I’m living now in US.

4. For I-485, how many sets of documentation copies should I send to the INS? Is one set of documents sufficient?

5. Any ideas on how to organize documentation for filing I-485, I-131 and I-765?

6. Usually how long can I wait to receive the first receipt notice of the application? When can I get the notification for FP?

7. By what means can I convince to INS that position and job nature I’m holding is similar to the previous? I switched to a new company while I-140/NIW/Self-Petition was approved.

here is the rule of thumb for any immigration process..: The passport MUST be valid for the next 6 months from the date of application.. so, you may need to think about your passport validity seriously

-------------- but you can get passport renewed in 2 days go to your nearest US consulate and request them that your PD may not remain current and you need valid passport. It was your duty to keep valid Passport with you. if you attach expired passport with all the pages then you may get RFE or may not
