Hi, I am a international student on I-20 Visa.
This 2nd semester I planned to transfer to another hish school than I found out from my school office lady that my I-20 wasn't activated in their system. So I had to send them some paperwork to hane it activated. I havent asked my school whose fault it was and how long was my I-20 deactivated for.
Now I am waiting for my visa to be reactivated from INS. I don't know how long it will take.
Right now i think i am out of status.
Since i am out of status and it wasnt my fault with the visa can i still sue the school or talk to the police or lawyer? Would they try to kick me out?
What can i do with this situation?
Should I get a letter from my school saying that it was their fault?

Thank you and hope you guys are having a better new year

School kept me as a permanent resident rather an international student. Now I want to enter US asap to finish little things in school and get my degree. I m canadian citizen, should i apply for I-20 form? is there still chance that I will not be allowed to re-enter? please help me I am too worried at this strange situation when I didn't make any mistake. thank you

Before approaching an immigration lawyer in private, You can approach your school immigration lawyer to get to know about your status. You can get an idea about it.
