You can guess Ur Lin's doing some elimination

1> Eliminate all lin #'s which are greater than Ur 485 #'s.

2> Try to do one to one correspondence for I-140 and 485.
All the 485 lins lower than Ur most prob will have I-140 which will be lower than Ur I-140. You got what I mean.


Like Guy 01 --- 485 ----> LIN100
Guy 02 --- 485 ----> LIN140

Say you have set of two I-140 to choose from -- LIN88 and LIN77
Then most prob. thing might be
LIN77 will be Guy1 and LIN88 will be guy2.


So do all this U can narrow it down to one or two lins. But track all three -- till U hit the jackpot --- GC.

Does I-140 LIN number always has to less than I-485 or it does happen in most of cases?
I dont have the LIN of my I-140 but I searched for LIN numbers and I could get I-140 numbers with difference of -116,-156,- 275 (I485-I140).Will we get that much difference? Or in some cases can we get LIN number of I-140 greater than I-485? (or near to I-765)
And the difference between my I-485 and I-765 has a diiference of 192 numbers.

As per your question being 93 apart my two applications filed on the same day in the same envelope have 27 and 80 numbers between them.
I-485 to I-765 is 27 and I-765 to I-131 is 80 all were filed on the same day using a single envelope and a single cheque.

This is addressed to those who got their I140 receipt No.(lucky enough)
And those who filed their I140 and 485 Concurrent IN THE SAME ENVELOPE ,

Please let us just know your LIN no difference between I140 and 485.
If the I140 number is less than 485, write as '-'(minus) and the difference of the number.
Logically it should be less than 485 number. If it is more than 485, write as '+'(Plus) and the difference of the number.

The whole idea is to get all possible I140 and keep track.
I searched 110 less than my 485 Lin number and I found only 3 I140 cases.
So I will keep track of these 3.
I dont want to go beyond 110. I think so 110 difference should be enough.
Anyway once I start getting your answer, I will get an idea.
Your answer will not only help me, there are lot of other readers
I have seen in this forum who have been denied their receipt number
by their employer.

i tried from 485 receipt number less than 100, i got 7 140 receipts aand 5 485 receipts
anyhow i gave it my portfolio all those 140 receipts

My 140 LIN # -26 than 485

Guys,
I filed concurrently (same envelop) in Aug 2004 and my 140 LIN# is -26 than my I-485 LIN#. My EAD is 485 LIN#+101 and AP is 485 LIN#+203. I filed for my wife also, her LIN#s are +25 .. +40 than my LIN#s for 485,EAD & AP respectively.

What Billtoo said seems to be right the LIN#s (atleast in my case) are in the following ascending order 140 < 485 < EAD < AP

May be this info might help your guys search.

Numbers

Mine numbers wrt 485.

I-140 -->(-)24
EAD -->(+)71
AP --> (+) 102



I feel that most probable occurence of ones I-140 number will be the closest one to ones I-485 number or within closest 3 from 485.

So I think Ur extra attention is needed for the closest ones.
In my case it is the closest one -- it would be great if someone confirms this with there numbers.

i got 2 140 receipt numbers near 485. means just - 25 i saw 2 140s...

yesterday i got 140 receipt from my employer
there my 140 receipt number is greater than 1 485?

why?
 
How to get I-140 Lin number

Hi Apunkage,

If you have paid for your I-140 fees, then it will be behind the check. Ask your bank to send the Back side copy of the check.
