I-140 questions?

I applied 140 (and 485) on july 2 2007. My PD is Oct 2003. I got the receipt from USCIS ( SRCXXXXX) which I believe is Texas. But I heard that 140 applications from Texas will be moving to other service centers? Is it true?

What is the average processing time for 140 in texas ?

That's probably due to phase III of bi-specialization, where the 2 service centers will process the cases originating within their jurisdiction.

09/20/2007: I-140 and I-485 Applicants Confusion of Jurisdiction of Receipting, Processing, and Adjudication of Their Cases

  • There are reports that I-485 applications which were filed per the USCIS new direct filing instructions have been receiving Receipt Notices from a different Service Center followed by another notice that the cases have been transferred back to the original Service Center. Some cases are transferred to other Service Center without any follow-up notices. Additionally, we have already posted that September 15, 2007 USCIS Processing Times report did not show I-140 processing times for Texas Service Center, while the Vermont Service Center reported the processing time reports for various different types of I-140 petitions. Rumor goes that all the I-140 petitions that were filed with the Texas Service Center have been transferred to other Service Centers, probably to Vermont Service Center. The consumers have also experienced a substantial confusion relating to the USCIS I-485 receipting frontlog reports. The situation raises a serious concern in the consumer community as to whether the USCIS is again shipping around the files among different Service Centers, because such transfers of files usually accompany delays in the processing of applications, not to mention frequent loss of files. Is the USCIS reconfiguring the Bi-Specialization program or abandoning such Bi-Specialization program? Lack of predictability on the agency's management and processing of the applications raises some cooncerns in the community. We urge the USCIS to release their updates on their modality of processing of I-140 petitions and I-485 applications as soon as possible.

moving files from one service center to another is pretty common these days because they cant cope with the work on hand. so dont worry about that. as far as I-140 processing time, the avarage is 6 month on a regular basis but this month, they didnt even put I-140 processing time on their reports. so no one will know at this time. right now, the mess they call immigration has become messier because of how they played with Priority dates. i think you and i will be waiting a long time.

MY receipt is from Texas and Online status still showing Texas. Does this mean that mine will be shipped to Vermont? My Receipt date is July 2 2007.

I don't think so. The adjacent link describes the jurisdiction of the Nebraska and Texas service center jurisdiction. FYI - Vermont and California centers will process non immigrant visas only.

140 and 485 Filed concurrently...

My 140 and 485 filed concurrently on 8/3/07 in Nebraska service center and so far no clue on receipts. My 6 years H1B expires in Feb 08. Any Idea on whats going on concurrent filings?
