I-140 processing

Hi,
Can somebody clear my confusions
1. I filed my I 140 through my lawyer under E1B ( is it same as E13?) in Feb 2003. I haven't received an official receipt of my petition as yet. However on shuttling between the lawyer and the medical instituion I work for I finally got the EAC number from the lawyer from the cheque he had sent as fee for the filing.
On asking the lawyer, he say that it would have gone to my instution? I am confused- who should receive the original notification- lawyer or the immigration office of the instution?
Is thisoriginal notification from BCIS required for my sunsequent I485 filing or an online printed receipt is enough.

2.On plugging in this receipt number EAC031015xxxx on the BCIS site I get the date of Feb 13th 2003. I guess this is receipt date. What is then the notice date and where do I see it?Can I get a current update of the receipts processed by the vermont center so far in this and related categories. Worried. Please include by info in your updates.

Notice date will be printed on your reciept it may be 5-6 days later date than RD

Mine also Same situation as yours..We tried to Call INS for the copy of reciept but in Vein.....
Glad we have some number to track the info......
