How could your wife be out of status when you could have easily transfered her to your dependent status (F-2 J-2 H-4 etc of what ever the status you had). Were you out of status too.
This might be really complicated. But as far as I know (I'm not a lawyer) this could be fixed unless your wife has ever posed as a citizen( which will never be forgiven). Your problem may be well beyond the comments of this forum. Consult a lawyer.
