Can anybody give me a ballpark figure for how long it takes after I-140 has been approved to get 485 approved. I've done FP/biometrics and LUD for 485 was 18 apr 05. I thought it would only be a few weeks but after having looked at other forums, some people have been waiting months/years!

I-140/485 RD 03/08/05 (NIW)
I-140 RFE 03/30/05 AD 04/30/05
I-485 FP 04/01/05 LUD 04/18/05

Hi,

Can you provide your credentials? Why did your I-140 get approved so fast? In less than 2 months! Thanks.

BSc & PhD Physics from UK universities 15 yrs post doc experience - academic & industry R&D. 35 publications - some citations - work highlighted in govt journals. Working in aviation safety. Got 8 letters of reference -4 govt agncs - 2 work colleagues (world renowned) - 2 professors. Ensured letter writers commented in such a way that the 3 prongs were highlighted. Made significant contribution to attorneys submission letter. H1b runs out mid June 05 and stated in letters that research was on-going coming up to vital trials etc and that research would be halted if I had to leave country. Maybe thats why it was processed early. I was really surprised that it was processed so soon. I was concentrating more on getting EAD so I could contiue working.

I'd still like to know if anybody out there can give me an idea of when 485 will be completed. Do they just get your fingerprints/biometrics and then leave it for months? Theyre processing 16 Dec 2004 just now. My LUD was 18 Apr - 140 approved 2 May. I want to travel overseas this summer but would this pose a problem with 485 - have got AP documents

Would appreciate if someone could comment on wait time after NIW approval. Specifically effects if I travel out of country when 485 gets approved/denied

Thanks

It's ok to work and travel

It's hard to say how long your 485 will get approved. Some of my friends filed 485 on Apr 2004 and haven't got any response yet.

For you case, it's would be fine to continue your work here and travel outside. Just get your AP and EAD.
