ND 2/01. NSC says "Waiting to get I-140". Chennai says "No one\'s asked for it.&quo
Nothing new. Same info as my last posting about a month back. Last time a customer service rep told me that I should call back in a month if there was no progress on "I-140 waiting to be matched with I-485."
This time it was still the same except that I was told that a request "was made for your I-140." When I called Chennai later last night, no request had been made for it yet. Anticipating this I had asked the NSC rep
1. when the request was made and
2. where the request was made
He would not answer either question! All he would say was that a request was made to whereever you I-140 file is and if we don\'t hear back in 120 days we will send out another request!
I also called the NVC (again) to check if the INS called them. If the I-140 file has been sent to the Consulate, they simply tell the INS that they need to contact the Consulate. And they don\'t document the communication with the INS. So there is no way of knowing whether the INS has contacted the NVC.
And so another month goes by ...
PS: My take is that a request for the I-140 file happens only after a case is "assigned" to an officer. Or perhaps they have labeled many such files with "Waiting for I-140 match" before assigning to an officer, but have failed to request that the I-140 be returned. So these files will probably sit there until someone realizes, "Oops, these files have been here over 2 years!"
