I-140 approved back in May 2006 but I'd already relocated to India

So, here's the story on which I was hoping to get some inputs/guidance --

1) Had to relocate to India in 2006 due to unforeseen family circumstances. Have been living and working here since then.
2) Was on an H1-B at that time which was valid till Aug. 2008.
3) I-140 had already been filed by my employer in Dec. 2005.
4) Was cleaning my file cabinet recently and found the receipt no. Thought of checking on USCIS online tracker and was pleasantly surprised to find that the I-140 app. was approved in May 2006.

Can the I-140 be used to complete/re-initiate the GC process? If so, how?

My case is very similar to yours..my I140 was approved in Feb 2010 and relocated to India in March 2010 and living in India since then...to add a twist to the tale...i have changed to another employer tooo..would like to know what happens to the I140 approved with the previous employer and if it can be reused with a new employer??

please let me know if you come across any answers. I will do the same.

No progress yet..

No further direction yet. Have written to a couple of attorneys as well but haven't heard back from anyone yet.

Trying to reach the attorney who filed my case but seems the office/#/emails has changed. :-( Did you try doing the same?

I-140 is for future employment. As long as job offer for which employer got labor certification and I-140 is filed and remains in approval mode, you can try doing consular processing for employment based immigrant visa as long as priority date is current. Most important part is employer should give you letter stating job offer remains open for you to accept and also have to prove continuing ability to pay proffered salary mentioned in labor certification.
