I-131 when is considered filed?

Hello,

I need help to understand something. if someone send an I-131 reentry permit on Fri. for Sat. delivery and then leaves the country on Sun. will this be considered as properly filed in the US or not?

If they get it on Saturday, yes. You'd be advised to send it registered with return receipt. FedEx or UPS would work too, as they are more reliable.

what if sat. they are closed and they physically get it on Mon.... will I be safe?
Looking ahead, in case, this is not good but they do not realize that and still issue the permit, Am I OK or...

The filing date is when they receive it during their business hours.

If it arrives on Saturday, they'll set the receipt date as Monday so if you leave before Monday you have a problem.
