I 131 -travel Document

Is there anybody who left the states before the interview using a travel document from the USCIS?
Is it safe to travel before interview and before receiving the GREEN CARD?

Please let me know if you know something.

Thank you,

That is whole purpose of AP, however......
whether safe or not is hard to say, as even though you have valid AP or valid visa or even valid GC, they have discretion to reject your entry.
Unless travel is absolutely necessary, i wouldn't do that.

I was afraid to read what I just did, but thank you for your advice.
Maybe I should wait the GC.

Thank you,

If you have overstayed your legal status before applying for I-485, DO NOT use AP for travel as that would trigger the 3/10 year ban from entering the US.

Hi
The whole time I was legal in the states and even now I have the J1 visa which is until 2008. Plus I have the travel document.
I realy need to go home to see my husband, but in the same time I am afraid not to meet difficulties on my way back.

Thank you,

You cannot be on a non-immigrant J status when you showed immigration intent by filing I-485 (J visas dont have dual intent)
Your lost your J status when you filed I-485
you are now technically on "Pending AOS" status
You are no longer on a J status eventhough the J visa in your passport is still valid.

Ok. So I could not travel with the DS from the J1 visa. What about with the travel document from USCIS. The I 131 can guarantee the turn back?

you can use AP. You will be successfully able to enter the US with AP in 99% chance, but there is no such thing "guaranteed" in immigration.
