i-130 submitted crosses border 3x wk how do we change status

My wife crosses the border with a b2 visa, atleast 3 times a week to work and stay for a couple a days in Mexico and in the US. We have already submitted i-130. We are wondering if we should just go ahead and change her status and submit the rest of the paperwork. And if we do submit her change of status can she cross back and forth with no problem? i have heard that if she does this it might affect her status? ideas or suggestions?

yes, i checked it out this morning on the usics website and it still reads "Case received and pending"

That does not mean the I-130 priority date is current. Match its date with the visa bulletin.
