I-130 - quick question

I'm in the beginning steps of preparing my I-130...

Quick backstory - I'm currently in South Korea with my Canadian Fiance (we teach English here) and will be gaining our marriage cert. this next week in Korea. We'll be applying at the US Embassy here in Korea hoping for a Direct Consulate Filing (we've heard rumors that they can complete the entire process in under 3 months!) which would be nice because we'll be leaving Korea at the end of February. Being abroad, I don't have easy access to original documents. For example, my birth certificate.

So, I know they ask for copies of these files...the question is, if I have my parents who are holding the originals, scan a copy and email it to me, and I print it out here, would that be acceptable for the I-130? I've also heard both that you can and can not use a copy of your passport in replace of the birth certificate - which one is true? Thanks for the help and any advice/suggestions you may offer! Take care!

P.S. If you happen to have submitted your I-130 to the US Embassy in Korea, would love to hear from you! Thanks!

You are only needed to send copies of all your documents with the I 130 application. It's only at the time of your interview that you'll be required to show the originals.
You cannot show passport as proof of birth.
