What the heck is this? I'm a US citizen filing for my wife, just married. Is this religious record required or is that used for other cases than a spouse?

The same goes to the school records and census records "see blow".

As per the screenshot you copied , these are asked for if a required document is unavailable. For example some people may not have birth certificates, then these documents can be used as secondary evidence for date of birth and parentage.

Oh, I see. You're right. I thought if a required document is unavailable = one of these religious, census, etc is unavailable !
