I am an Amarican Citizen. I files I130 application for to bring my wife to the U.S. I file I130 in California on may 12 2001.It took me 3.5 month to receive a receipt number. It says that it will take 815 to 825 days to process this kind of case. It that correct.
Does it realy take 2.5 years to bring your spouse to the state?
I was under the impression that it takes 3-4 month.

try searching for k visa under the life act. I think you will be able to apply for a k1 visa for your wife as long as the petition took 3 years already. She can stay with you until her visa is approved

HI, this is Amiya I thought that if you are a US citizen you didn\'t have to wait the 3 yrs before you were able to file under the LIFE act. I did my husband paper from Ohio and used the Nebrask office and it was much faster than California. It depends were you live at. I sent my husband papers off in October 1999. Received notice of receipt letter Nov. 1999, received approval of I130 in April of 2001, sent to NVC in April approved in July 2001. Received my pak 3 in July mailed it to him and he turn it in to the Embassy in Nigeria in Aug of 2001. Now we are waiting for his interview with them.

Our I-130 took 9 months..

I peititioned for my wife during the mid 90\'s and it took three months for a decision back from INS and then 6 months from NVC recieving the INS file to my wife flying into the country. Any longer than that and I would start writing your congressman and senator. But be sure to get someone to look your paperwork over first. INS and NVC are famed for sending your paperwork back at the end of the time periods instead of right away. If so, you can find the errors and find out how to submit them back.
