I-130 and work permit

I have applied for and recieved notice of reciept of immigrant petion for relative fiance or orphan aka I-130. I am over 21 married and a Canadian citizen being sponsered by my father a Unioted States citizen. However it should be stated that I can not apply for a son/daughter of United states citizen born abroad as he was only recently inducted as an American citizen. My questions are: Having grown up largely in the United States of America including graduating high school, holding a valid drivers license, a bank account, etc. and possessing a SSN, Is this whole process neccesary? Can I simply move? How can I get a visa for my wife who is not as of yet canadian (israel citzen/ Canadian permanent residence) providing I can simply go out there. If not, Is there any way to speed up the I - 130 application process? Providing that neither of the options above are feasible, What forms would I fill out to request a work permit and does my wife have to be a candian citizen to apply for a work permit?

Le'ts see if I understand: your "naturalized US citizen" father FILED a i-130 for you (a married Canadian citizen) correct?

OK, you will fall under category 3 which is MARRIED SONS OR DAUGHTERS OF US CITIZENS. Right now the waiting for a VISA is of 7 years. USCIS is currently working on i-130 with PRIORITY DATE of 15JUL1998.

when was your i-130 approved? and what's your priority date? You should look that on your i-130 approval letter. Also, in the application, did you include your wife???

Regarding coming here, just like that.. out of the blue... it's not the right thing to do. Having a SS doesn't give you the right to do that. If you come here and still have years to wait for a VISA.. you will be staying here as ILLEGAL and when the time comes for you to ADJUST your status with the VISA (several years down the road).. USCIS will sent you back to CANADA to receive your GREEN CARD there. But, you will find yourself punished and will have to wait from 3 to 10 years in Canada before you can enter US soil again.

In conlusion, you and your wife (if her name is in the i-130 application too) will have to wait depending on your PRIORITY DATE.

Great to see this is an active forum. Umm, I have not yet received approval only receipt of... which I sent in Oct. 04. Here we are 16 months and nothing. This doesn't seem normal, hence I am writting here. I am familiar with the catagories and understand the processing time. I just don't understand how people are getting their I-130 approved so quickly and can't believe that someone in my position has no other options. Think of it not being legally entitled to live where you grew up I am being patient but I want to rectify my personal situation asap. Q. can my wife apply for a work visa if she is cdn PR / Israel citizen or do we have to wait for her to complete the citizen application process?
