Hello,
In February 2009 i received my approval notice for my I-130 petition that my brother filed for me back in march of 2001. The notice said that i was eligible to adjust my status under the 245(i) law. So i was wondering if you guys know if the 245(i) is a good law to file and how long it takes to receive a response after i file it and the benefits that i would receive.

Thank You

yes it is. Keep checking the visa bulletin http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/bulletin/bulletin_4438.html to see when your priority date becomes current. Then send in all the appropriate forms and fees . 245(i) Allows you and your family ( wife and kids) to adjust your status in the US by paying a $1000 dollar fine if you are in the country illegally. To qualify you will have to have been physically present in the US on December 21, 2000 and had a petition filed for you before April 30, 2001.
