There are non-hindi speaking/non-indian people on this board.

Its okay if you have to use a little of your mother tongue... but not whole messages!

which is in tamil on that thread you did not gave your sane advice to refrain posting in Tamil any thing in Hindi is bad but in Tamil is ok for you it seems

Please follow the same rules for threads stated in any other langauge .

Look at the the thread from koyamuttur... its heading is in english... it has english translation... all those who have replied have put in translations.... I mentioned that if you want some things in your mother tongue that is fine but not TOTALLY.

But now that you bring it up ... yes I hate Hindi with every breath of my life! There I said it !

but you have to take it Hindi is National Langauge of India no matter how much you hate but Hindi was, is , & will be National Langauge of India ...

HI,

I didn't know want to get into this thread, but couldn't help being a silent reader.

My mother tongue is not Hindi, but I have learnt Hindi. I love languages and I can speak and write English, Hindi, Marathi, Konkani, French, Portuguese and a very little bit of German. I don't have anything against any language, but everybody should respect others languages.

Having said that.. as English is de facto world language, it's up to us to provide translations, when we write in our mother tongue. I have seen threads here which only have a local language and no translation and PEOPLE WHO KNOW THAT LANGUAGE KEEP ON WRITING IN THAT LANGUAGE..
Conclusion: Don't be hypocrites, guys, mend your ways..(without taking names, wise will understand who I am hinting at..)

Lastly if given a chance I would love to learn Tamil, Telgu, Kannada, Malyaalam, Bengali, Oriya, Gujrati, Punjabi, so on and so forth.. I might have missed many languages here, but please do not take it personally if it's your mother tongue...

green : I love people... not the language being thrust on people! BTW you may be the only person quoting desi485. Maybe his words deeply touched you heart because of the pain and suffering you endured when your dad sodomized you and your mom slept with your neighbor... its okay she sleeps with everyone!

feb140: Hindi is not spoken in many parts of South India and hence cannot be considered as a national language by us! If the PM and other leaders are rude enough to give speeches in Hindi with no trnslation ... it only shows their utter disregard for people! you cannot force something on people who dont want it! BTW Tamil is the one of the national languages of Singapore,Sri Lanka and is widely spoken in Malaysia and many other countries!

I fully agree with feb140. Though the official language for this forum is English and we all should try to adhere to it as much as possible. It is fine, if somebody wants to express himself in his mother tongue occasionally. Those who understand it would appreciate it and those who don’t should let it go. Earlier also, there have been postings on this forum in the language other than English. Let us not make this forum a battleground for the language.

Guys, please stick to

immigration issues, some fun stuff to release tension and support to one and all. As far as possible postings should be in English or as patienceGC suggested, with english trans. But please do not overdo it.

A few lines here and there in ur mother tongue followed by Englisg trans is OK ... my personal opinion.
