how will I know if the Post Office loses my interview letter?

my local Post Office is very, very bad when it comes to
delivering mail to the correct address.

In the last two years, I have received someone else's mail
on a regular basis.(about 3 to 5 every week) The addresses
on those letters/packages are not even remotely close to
my home address. For example, I would get a letter that's
address to 100 Washington St... when my own home address
is 8234 Springvale Dr.

I usually just throw the mail back at the nearest mailbox.
I assume some of my own mail have also been delivered to
other people's homes.

Half a dozen compalints to the manager at the Post Office
resulted in no change.

I just hope that when my interview letter comes, it doesn't
end up at someone else's home... :(

Very easy

Very easy question. Please make this a practice to stay in touch with USCIS on regular basis (once in 10 days may be). They will tell you about your interview date over the phone or if your IL was mailed out lately. Second scenario is, you can introduce yourself with your mail man/mail lady and tell him/her that you are expecting an important letter from USCIS. This way they can keep a close look for you.

Cases of real lost notices in the mail reported in this forum are close to zero, zilch, none ;) I mean, compared with the risk of getting stuck in name check, the risk of missing the interview notice, fingerprint notice or oath notice because it got lost in the mail is very small. My advice would be to monitor your district office timelines, if you see that people with your notice date are getting interviews and you don't get any in the next couple of weeks, then it would be time to act on it and call. Otherwise it would be a waste of time and resources in my humble opinion.

PS: For this situation I would advise TwoScoops of patience :)

Yes, I guess I have to keep regular phone contact with USCIS.... :(

My fingerprint notice from USCIS did not make it to my mailbox until
3 weeks after I got fingerprinted. (and it was apparent the letter
was sent to someone else's house... and they have opened it)

My neighbors and I have stopped complaining to the local post office.

I think you should seriously consider filing a complaint with the Postmaster General.
