I read on murthy.com that Telephone Access to Service Centers Again Available:

http://murthy.com/news/n_telacc.html

I wonder if we should try to call the service centers to inquire about our cases. I think a good qualifying example will be delayed RFE cases..

Any suggestions ?..may be, someone already tried....if so, please share your exprience...

Thanks for the info. It is clear in the note itself, which calls will be transferred...

Calls will be forwarded only for certain issues:

if an individual has been granted lawful permanent resident status more than 30 days prior but has not received the green card;

if post-approval documents have not been received within 30 days of the approval;

if an I-129 was approved more than a week prior, but the consulate or Port of Entry has not yet received notification of the approval;

if a companion case may have been separated during processing;

if information needs to be changed on a pending I-129 petition;

and most questions about Requests for Evidence.

Can anyone explain what "a companion case" means? If my case was approved and the dependant's case is still pending, can I call NCSC based on the reason that a companion case is separated during processing?

a_wang,

Yes, you have a right to speak to the USCIS officer since your cases seems to have been separated in processing and there is no RFE on your dependant's case. Call up today and chose companion case and see what they say.

I just called and used the companion case option. The call got xferred to TSC.
So it helped me.
Thanks for the info, guys.

Goastros

Is this option available on the phone menu? If yes how did you get to it?
Might sound stupid but just curious.

Yes the option is available on the phone menu.
I think after you call the 800 number, you have hit 1 for english...
then you hit the options for Getting the case status.
Thereby you will enter your SRC number and then you hit the option for getting more information. Then you hear the menu as described in the murthy's site.
the waiting time was like 1 minute and a helpful lady from TSC picked the phone.
