Hi, kkg,
I think some staffs in Newark local office are not familiar with their work, I think the only way for your husband is to wait. Of course you can try others as mentioned in this forum.
I asked an immigration lawyer, he told me, when they told you one month, it probably means 2 -3 months, for some people, they are lucky to have response within one month.
As my stamp was marked as "cancelled without prejudice" although the expire dat is in May 18, 2004. The officer marked with my stamp ignored she has no right to cancell my green card with was approved via immigration law, only through legal procedures to cancel an green card.
I also was told within 3-4 weeks, I should obtain a letter or card, at least a reply from BCIS. My lawyer told me I could wait for the reply then go further.
Your husband is lucky, not "cancelled" by some officers, they prefer simplifying the case of inquiry, anyway, I suggested you go there again before the expire date, after you consult immigration lawyer, to talk to the supervisor, instead of the frontdesk, I do not trust them, from some eyes, we seems to share their benefits, but they may not know we also pay the tax here, not less than them. I am not comfortable there.
Good luck!

My husband's stamp on passport is expiring this april 16. He went for restamping to local ins( we moved out of state, and filed ar11). But the local ins did not stamp the passport, they said they cannot stamp it unless they see the file. They are not accepting the fact that the case was approved and stamped after inetrview. I have recieved the card late Nov '03 ( I am his beneficieary) I don't know what 's going on. I filed 731v in sep'03. No response. The local INS made my husband file 731 again in their office. I called the national inquiry with what happedned at local Ins and they said they will request for card and I should recieve the card in 3-4 weeks. Already 4 weeks and no sign of card or reply from anywhere.
Anyone had any experience like this please post.
