How to surrender I-94 on Mexican border?

Hi All,

We're planning a small trip to Mexico with my wife. She's a GC holder. We think of flying to San Diego and walking from there to Tijuana.

If I understand correctly, she has to surrender her I-94 each time she leaves the country - presumably, even to Tijuana. Yet, as I recall my prior trip, there is no passport control there, just walking through revolving doors.

What would be the right way of dealing with that issue?

I-485 is never surrendered at the border. Maybe you were thinking of the I-94, which nonimmigrants and other non-GC noncitizens surrender when leaving the US.

Green card holders doesn't surrender any documents when leaving the US. A GC holder might have to show the GC to get into Canada or Mexico if they're not a Canadian or Mexican citizen, but they don't surrender it.
