How To Stop H1 6 Yrs Clk/time

No. My belief is that you have to stay out of the country for 1 year before your clock resets.

You can stop H1 clock if you swith to any visa/EAD other than H/L type. But to get back to H1, you have to go home country for stamping or status-change.

-------> Why cant I get H1b petition approval staying over here if I dont want stamping to be done. I think its possible to get H1 approval i.e status change to h1 from f1 w/o leaving the country. Plz clarify this.
 
The answers above are different because they are answering two different questions, only one of which you actually asked.

If you change to another status (and receive an I-94 indicating that new status) the H-1B clock will stop (but will not reset) and will restart when an I-94 indicating H-1B (or any H or L status) is received. For the H-1B clock to reset, the person must spend 1 year out of the US.
