How to send the Passport outside India?

Hello everybody,

I had applied for Canadian PR from USA through a lawyer in Canada at the Buffalo Consulate. I am currently in India for my H1B stamping but its been delayed as they are currently doing administrative processing.

I have been informed by my lawyer that the consulate is requesting for my passport. Also, the lawyer added that it's late at this stage to get my case transferred to the Canadian consulate in New Delhi

I have a small situation here. I have been told that mailing the passport outside India is not legal. I am not sure when I would get the H1B visa approved, so what are my options to get the passort to my lawyer in Canada who said that he would send it to the consulate for stamping. Is there any other way to go about this hurdle ?

Please advise as I am confused about this and dont want to lose the PR chance.

Thanks.

Yes it is not legal to send the passport without permission. Go to local passport office and get the permission to send the passport.
This is my understanding.

Thanks OhNoo for your response.
A friend suggested that one can send it through a person(naturally trustworthy) travelling to Canada and ask him/her to send it to the lawyer and get it back the same route. Is that okay to do?

Guys, Please advise.

Thanks.

passport out side india?

I am in the similar situation. Could you please advice me what you found out in your case? I appreciate any info shared.

Thanks,

I had asked this to one of the Immigration Councellor last year and they suggest the same thing that the person carrying your passport should have a written letter from the holder of the passport. Sending PP by courier is not legal.

Sending passports across the country

So, what did you do finally? Can I have your email id? I would like to talk you as I need your advise.

Tried courier. it works, but i won't recommend.
