How To Renew Expired Green Card

MY RELATIVE HAD A GREEN CARD WHICH EXPIRED IN YEAR 2000 BUT SINCE THAN SHE HAS COME TO USA AS WIFE OF H1 VISA HOLDER e.g (LEGALLY IN USA).
HOW CAN WE GET THE GREEN CARD ? IS THERE A LEGAL PROCEDURE WE CAN FOLLOW?

Lost green card

Permanent Resident Alien Registration Cards (commonly known as Form I-551 "green cards") can be issued or replaced only by the United States Bureau of Citizenship and Immigrations Services.

Green card is evidence of the permanent resident status and not a document that determines the permanent resident status of an alien. Even if the green card is lost or expired, it does not affect the status of the alien's permanent resident. If green card is expired, just follow link provided by “flman95” to replace expired GC.

Please note that above is not true for conditional green card.
