How to read EAC number?

Could someone please explain how to read EAC-xx-xxx-xxxxxx number? Is it related to RD or ND, or something else?

The first two digits represent the year the application was received.

The second set of three digits represent the "number of" day in the calender year

Last five digits represent some random number which is specific to the applicant.

EAC-Service Center (Vermont->VSC)
xx-Fiscal Year (2001->01)
xxx-Number of Business Days (001-> October 1st)
xxxx-Serial Number

Hm...why than my EAC starts with 01, and my ND is 12/00? Does INS count years based on different calendar :)?

EAC number is it different for 485, 140 etc.. For me I applied for 485 in Jan and my RD is 2/6/01. my EAC number is EAC 01 096 XXXXX?
Where is this 96 came from??

INS calender year starts in October. Any application received after OCt 2000 will have a EAC # as EAC-01-xxx-xxxxx

096 present the # of days from the beginning of the calender year. In your case, number of days from October 1, 2000 to your receptu date.

My RD is Dec, 2001. Is there any hope that I can get the approval done in next 6 months. Currently VSC is processing August of 2001.

yap,you are right, it is the working days.
My EAC number is 00-219-xxxxx and ND is 07/12/00.
So on 07/12/00 all I485 cases should have 00-219-xxxxx number ,right?

My EAC# 01-023-XXXXX. ND is Oct 30, 2000, RD is Sep 30,2000.
Shouldn\'t I have had EAC# 01-021 instead of 01-023-XXXXX if I apply the logic from earlier posts ? Or am I missing something ?
