How to reach Kolkota consulate

Hi i have appointment at kolkota consulate
but i never been to kolkota before
please let be know
how to reach there from airport/railway station
any good hotel for over night stay

When is your appointment? and what is the above address?? I thought the American embassy/consulate is on Ho Chi Minh Sarani Road.

I did some web search and found this hotel (not sure if it is good, but it says it is right opposite the US consulate).

If you dont want to take chances in an unknown city, You can try my route:

- Book Hotel Oberoi (Rs 6000 per night, yeah.. expensive...but you'll feel safe and sound if you dunno the city)
- Fly in to Calcutta
- Oberoi offers courtesy airport pickup. Stay that night at the hotel.
- Ask Avis (Inside Oberoi) to drop you off at the consulate. (Rs 188)
- Finish your Visa stuff. Take a normal cab and get back to hotel (Less than Rs50)
- Checkout and get back to the airport by taking a cab from outside the hotel

that's it. You are done.

The money spent might be well worth it, imho..

Great idea

Thank you gxr. That is a great idea. Rs 6000/(50 re/$) = 120$. That is very reasonable (if we can get the same rates).
